10.24.12

a friend prays psalm 139 for her children.
i take the same God-breathed Scriptures and do the same
for our daughter in india.

O Lord, You have examined her heart
and know everything about her.
You know when she sits down or stands up.
You know her thoughts even when she's far away.
You see her when she travels
and when she rests at the [orphanage].
You know everything she does.
You know what she is going to say
even before she says it, Lord.
You go before her and follow her.
You place Your hand of blessing on her head.
such knowledge is too wonderful for her,
too great for her to understand!
she can never escape from Your Spirit!
she can never get away from Your presence!
if she goes up to heaven, You are there;
if she does down to the grave, You are there.
if she rides the wings of the morning,
if she dwells by the farthest oceans,
even there Your hand will guide her,
and Your strength will support her.
she could ask the darkness to hide her
and the light around her to become night -
but even in darkness she cannot hide from You.
to You the night shines as bright as day.
darkness and light are the same to You.
You made all the delicate, inner parts of her body
and knit her together in her mother's womb.
thank you for making her so wonderfully complex!
Your workmanship is marvelous-how well she knows it.
You watched her as she was being formed in utter seclusion,
as she was woven together in the dark of the womb.
You saw her before she was born.
every day of her life was recorded in her book.
every moment was laid out
before a single day had passed.
how precious are Your thoughts about her, O God.
they cannot be numbered!
she can't even count them;
they outnumber the grains of sand!
and when she wakes up,
You are still with her.
