Is God aware of my doubts?

Friend, I believe He’s more present than ever when we doubt.

When we see my kids scared or apprehensive about something, that’s not the time to turn away and hope for the best. Absolutely not! Those are the moments we come close and try to understand and listen.

A few summers ago, our family was on sabbatical in Paris and we spent a fabulous day at Jardin d’Acclimatation. Kavita and Sam did a zip-lining course. A moment came for Kavita, standing high up in a tree on a thin platform, where she doubted if she could make the jump. In her doubts, she needed reassurance. She needed cheers. She needed us to hear her scream. She needed us as close as we could get. Kavita needed us with her in her doubts. She did it! We were down below cheering her on, building her confidence, assuring her we’d be there when she finished. We’re just as present with Kavita and our boys on their confident days as we are in their fearful moments. It’s just as they wrestle with truth and faith, we’re going to make it out aim to cheer them on, speak truth to them and be close.

And God is so much better than this than we are!

Doubt is when we wonder if it’s possible.

Doubt is when a battle rages in our thoughts.

Is God aware of my doubts?

“Lord, you have examined me and know all about me. You know when I sit down and when I get up. You know my thoughts before I think them.” (Psalm 139:1)

When Jesus appeared to the disciples after the resurrection, He asked them why they doubted. Then Jesus invited them into something I believe He’s inviting us all into. (Luke 24)

“Touch me and see.”

Do something with your doubts.

It’s when apathy sets in where we are in dangerous territory.

Doubt is the battle. Apathy or faith either win.

Apathy says, “forget about it. It’s not worth it. They’re not worth it. I just don’t care anymore.”

Faith says, “hold on. Don’t give up. Greater is He in me than he who is in the world.”

Mind you, it’s not all love and kindness all the time.

Battles rage in each of us. In His lovingkindness, He says to us, “Touch me and see.”

Touch His world.

See His people.

We touch by engagement. And that is always a victory in the Kingdom of God.

You doubt you’ll be in this city much longer.

You wonder if life will ever be different.

Your thoughts are all-consuming with the work project, the statistics, the previous year, the unknowns.

Jesus is saying to you right now, “Touch me and see.”

Bring Him your doubts of today.

Picture yourself standing on a thin platform high above the ground. Call out to Jesus. He hears you. He’s for you and cheering you on.

I believe someone reading this post is being challenged to touch someone around you and see God move in a mighty way. He’s calling you to engage with a personal doubt by engaging with a person around you. He knows your thoughts. Go and live sent today.
