What do I do now that Easter is over?

After Jesus came back to life, He revealed Himself to His disciples and others before He returned to His Father in heaven. He sent the person of the Holy Spirit on a day called Pentecost.

What do we do now that Easter is over?

We look to Pentecost.

Easter and Pentecost

Easter technically lasts from Resurrection Sunday until Pentecost Sunday. Pentecost is a Greek word meaning fiftieth and is an old Jewish festival. In other words, Pentecost was going to happen on the Jewish calendar in the first century - it’s just it became supernaturally special that year onward! For the past 2,000 years, it has implications for Christians! This is the day Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to come upon the disciples 50 days after His resurrection. The temple held God’s presence in the Old Testament. Pentecost marked the moment when God established His Temple inside of His people as His Spirit breathed on us. We became His Temple. We became the Church!

Christians, followers of the way of Jesus, have just celebrated the most important day of the year as we believe Jesus beat death and gives us a reason to live. He died for our sins as He shed His blood on the cross as an innocent and holy man. He loves us that much! He forgives us that much!

The last 2 chapters of the Gospel of Luke document Jesus revealing Himself to people, reclining at table with people, and reminding them of what He taught before His death and what He has fulfilled through the prophecies of the Old Testament.

His first followers became convinced and courageous and began to share their eyewitness accounts.

This year it will be June 5, 2022. What if we took the posture of the early Christians and remembered their stories and ours as well?

Between now and Pentecost, join me in doing 3 things:

Read Luke and Acts. Take a chapter a day, even if it goes beyond June 5. This is our story! This is what happens after Easter!

Create your eyewitness account by journaling your answers to these three questions:

  1. When did you first hear of Jesus?

  2. Why did you start following Him?

  3. How is He changing your life today?

Pray if you’re searching: Jesus, reveal Yourself to me. Pray if you’re believing: Come Holy Spirit Come.

I love the Bible Project guys and found this explanation of Pentecost helpful. Take a listen. Share this post with your friends!
