Spend time with people

Friend,

Be more of who you are. Jesus loves it when we spend time with people. It’s what He did on earth well. The more I talk about Jesus, the better I get at talking about Jesus. Love where you live. Love the people. Care so much for them. Now bring up Jesus. Introduce them in a winsome way. Speak highly of Him.

I was at the salon and asked Niya what she does when she’s not at work, what she does during her free time.

“I like to journal. I’m working on inner healing.”

I can let this scare me or engage.

“I love to journal too. What are some things you’re learning as you journal, if I may ask?”

“My parents experienced so much when they fled their home country and walked days to freedom. Some of their trauma has been passed down and still in our family. I’m trying to do the work for all of us.”

“That’s a heavy task and how blessed they are to have you doing this inner work for yourself and them. I believe in inner healing and practice it daily. I believe and pray to the One True God and He is doing a good work in me. It’s not perfect. It’s a journey, but my relationship with God is making me more into who I am to be and helps my relationships with others.”

Niya didn’t have follow up questions. She didn’t ask me to tell her more about God. She saw that we are both doing the hard work and it leads to good things. I told her my morning ritual of connecting with God in prayer, the Bible, journaling and how we do something similar with our kids. She shared about wanting to do better with drinking and establishing grounding rituals.

I’m so glad I met Niya. I loved our conversation. I pray that something in our conversation was helpful to her in leading her to the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

Your conversations matter,

Shauna
