Coronation of a king

Friend,

Did you watch the coronation today? Because of jet lag I was up early to watch King Charles and Queen Camilla exit Westminster Abbey in the golden coach and begin their procession back to Buckingham Palace.

On the streets of London days before the coronation

Thanks to technology, Ben and I watched the ceremony in our time and in our living room and were blessed by the words and instruction from Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby.

The Holy Spirit draws us to love in action. This is promised by Jesus….Each of us is called by God to serve. Whatever that looks like in our own lives. We can choose the Lord’s way.

Watching all the pomp and circumstance in this grand cathedral, no one was exalted above King Jesus. It was and will always be His Holy Sprit who anoints us. Paul writes, “And it is God who establishes us with you in Christ, and has anointed us, and who has also put his seal on us and given us His Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.” (2 Corinthians 1:20-22)

There is no special group of anointed ones!

If you are in Christ, you are anointed by God and have his full anointing! This should humble us. This ought to make us the most loyal followers of King Jesus.

So with your feet on the ground you walk today, see the red carpet before you as your invitation to go where King Jesus leads you. With your hands open to love and serve one another. May your hearts be filled with joy and your lips with His praise because this is the day the Lord has made and all of His creation can rejoice and be glad in it!

Now to celebrate with some scones and fruit on Nana’s fine china,

Shauna
