grace on your birthday

Let’s go on a walk.

In your mind or get outside.

You pick - it’s your birthday!

Recognize your need for space and air.

Let your thoughts find a home.

Your concerns to calm.

Your reasoning to be right-sized.

This walk can be no more than a few minutes. 

In your mind, close your eyes.

What do you see?

If outside, eyes wide open.

What do you see?

I could tell you what I see,

What God points out to me.

But it’s your birthday. 

Don’t be afraid. Nothing is too silly.

The gift of today is not to overthink, analyze

Or strain to concentrate.

The gift is to be. To be you. 

And let Your Creator Father envelop you. 

If it feels like nothingness,

Simply pray,
God, I’m here. 

I want to see You.

I hear the Holy Spirit speak

Let this be a thin space - 

Nothing expected or planned -

Let it become sacred land.

This birthday encounter with the Lord.

How He is so sweet and kind

Even when confrontational.

He draws you close

His love covers everything.

You are real and really present.

Sometimes you have words for the feelings

Other times wordless feelings.

Curl up in the Father’s sweetness

If you will.

He delights in you -

Yes, you are the pearl of great price. 

Let His grace cover you.

Where you used to think His grace ran out

Before it ever got to you.

This moment you’ve slowed down

Let His truth and mercy and grace 

Fill you from head to toe.

Pause. Listen.

Quiet hush.

That’s Your Creator Father 

Speaking.

What you are sensing is His 

Love for you. 

Stay as short or long as you want.

This is grace on your birthday.
