Day 4: the Library

Well, we got to the library today! We literally live right around the corner from the Mission Bay Branch. It's been 40 years since a new library has been built in the city and we are excited to be members of this new one in our community.
There's a great children's area with comfy beanbags and tables, puzzles and building toys. The boys found some classics they love and were willing to let me suggest some new ones!
We signed up for the summer reading program which challenges each child to record 8 hours worth of reading. Once the 8 hours are accomplished they get to choose from one of several prizes (Giants tickets, Zoo tickets, Museum tickets). But the challenge goes on as they get to enter into a super raffle if they read 16 hours! Elijah is all about the big challenge! He loves to read and is doing well...thanks to such a fabulous Kindergarten teacher who made it so much fun!

But we will all have to say that the most fun at the library was getting to pick out our own library cards! They had 6 to choose from and several were covered with artwork done by kids in the city. Sam and I chose those and Elijah chose the official-looking library card! It's funny how the cards represent our personalities!

So, we walked away with 3 library cards, a bag full of books, 2 DVDs, knowledge of story hours and faces we hope to see again and again.
