Make-Believe: A Cousin's Tale [a repost]

"Okay, I'm not sure what we're up against today, but make sure we're all ready to fight for our land!"

Jonah rallied the cousins together. "Yeah!" they all shouted. "And know that we're all in this together," Jonah added. "Yeah!" they all shouted. "What are we doing, Jonah?" Emma questioned. "We tan't know that right now, Emma," Sam commented. "Let's be ready to attack and fight!" Elijah shouted.

"And one more thing. Asher has a back-up car ready if we need it and Miles is ready on the tire swing if we need that plan of escape." They all noticed. "Let's do this," Jonah concluded his rally talk.

"Charge!" Elijah yelled, not really knowing what invisible person he was after. Yet he charged anyway.

"I've got my stick gun ready to fire!" Sam thought. "Wait a second, what can a stick really do?"

"It doesn't matter, Sam," Jonah said on the other side of the fort. "Just act like you know what you're doing. Our looks can show we're not going down without a fight."

"Pow. Pow. Pow. Pow. I got 'em, Emma!" Joe shouted. "Got what, Joe?" "You know....those things out there in the woods," Joe added. "There's nothing in those woods. You boys and your make-believe. I'm going inside the house and play school!" Emma said.

The cousins did play all day, mostly outside on the trampoline or tire swing, with the dogs and with sticks. Our boys aren't used to playing in such wide-opened spaces. They LOVED every minute of it and can't wait to go back in a few weeks. One thing we did before we ate our Thanksgiving meal was to write on a rock what we are thankful for....the pictures taken that day spoke just as loud as the word on the rock!
