for the last 9 days, it's been a whirlwind of seeing God's blessing and favor in this city, in our lives, and in our church! i've literally had shortness of breath just trying to take it all in! 9 baptisms at Epic on sunday, paying off all student loans, getting elijah's baseball schedule with very few sunday games, sam having the same coaches as last year, more adults ever in epic small groups, corresponding with a ballplayer, and so on.

monday, ben had the day off and we both thought, "we need today just to slow down and take it all in."

then an email appeared in our inbox...

what news we have to share with you! and it's only tuesday. {i normally post adoption updates on wednesday}

our agency told us today that a*man has booked his flight and will be visiting our orphanage this THURSDAY!

neither us nor the agency knows the purpose of the visit and believe it to be one of two things:

1. the orphanage staff wants to establish a relationship with our american adoption agency

2. the orphanage staff has a referral for our family

i wrote a post about the importance of this meeting here.

ben and i are praying hard, strong, steady that they have a referral for us.

will you believe with us for the impossible?

this happens when we choose to exercise faith in the One True God.

believing Him for what we cannot see.

there’s a wall in northwest india that we can’t see on the other side. i can only see the wall thanks to google street view.

but thursday in india, wednesday for us in north america, a meeting will happen. a*man will meet the staff at our orphanage. let me remind us again that this has never happened before... an indian orphanage reaching out with an invitation to come and visit.

it’s very much my nature to hope for the second best option so as not to get my heart broken when the first best option doesn’t happen. i’d rather be pleasantly surprised than disappointed. yet, ben and i have been teaching others to reject status quo. we’ve rejected status quo and believed God in starting a church in downtown san francisco. we’ve rejected status quo in believing God to provide a school for our boys. to give us a home near their school. He hasn’t always answered the way we thought He would. and God certainly doesn’t owe us anything. as ben says we’re not entitled to anything in this life, but we’re gonna ask and beg God to act on our behalf and for His glory. i can't say i believe God to do this and not trust Him for the other. He is faithful. i will put my complete trust in Him for this adoption. for a referral. for Him to rescue this precious one.

you've been on this journey with us. you've been praying all the while. maybe you're new to our lives, but don't want to miss out on seeing God work firsthand. some of you have said that our family's exercise of faith is pushing you to make faith's next move.

right now and tomorrow, we're asking you to join this tribe of prayer warriors!

wednesday noon til wednesday midnight specifically

we're fasting. others are doing so for us. for our daughter. for this miracle.

we're inviting our boys to join hands and pray. involve your family when you gather for mealtime or bedtime.

A Prayer {Ephesians 3.12-21}

In him and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and confidence...For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being,  so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love,  may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ,  and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.
