How do you FEEL about where you live?

Friends,

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.” (Galatians 6:9-10)

Today, I have a series of thoughts to help you see how you feel about where you live. Consider doing this reflective journaling at a favorite spot in town or out in nature. It’s listed below or you can download the PDF here.

Establish the following:

Where do you live?

What brought you here? What has you here?

Today, what’s going on in the world? In your country? In your town/city?

Now, give some time and thought to these 10 questions:

  1. How do you feel about where you live right now?

  2. How are these feelings reflective of your own emotions?

  3. What’s changed in you in your time here?

  4. Who are some of your closest friends in town?

  5. What are some things you’ve gone through together?

  6. What’s special about where you live?

  7. What are you hopeful for in your community?

  8. How does your vocation & passions work for the shalom/peace of your town/city?

  9. What do you sense God still has for you here?

  10. How does God feel about the people where you live?

The best next thing is to pray.

To answer these questions with the God who made you and has a purpose and plan for your life. Simply read them out to Him. Then, ask God to give you peace in your coming and going, moving and staying. This is good for all of us who want our lives to matter in the place we get to call H O M E.

I’m glad there are other writers, leaders, and influencers who are giving their lives to practicing hospitality, serving the least of these, and living sent daily. Check out these books and please, add your recommendations in the comments.

As my friend, Candace, has said many a time, books are magic. They take you into worlds that you otherwise wouldn’t go yourself. Have you stepped inside mine? Love Where You Live is a walk around my city as I show you how God can use an introverted soul who felt like she had nothing in common with anyone in town. On the walk, I believe you’ll start seeing where you live and what you bring in a whole new light. Truth is, God’s got you where you are for reasons beyond what you can see! It’s what He showed me on our walk together! Click below to order yours. See if your local library has a copy. Already read it? Kindly order it for a friend or neighbor who’s just moved in or is moving. This writer thanks you!
