A Repentance Poem

I read about repentance today and this is what I jotted down -

No one needs help to sin.

We all need help to repent.

No one teaches you to sin.

Jesus teaches repentance.

The LORD looks at us.

His looking alone can help us recognize or need to repent.

Repentance is letting Jesus look at me and my look at Him and let His love and mercy cause me to leave the sin and go to Him.

Human sorrow and sadness is me looking at me.

The prodigal son came to his senses - human sorrow and looking at self, but didn’t stop there.

Then he came to his father.

Do I give attention to the LORD looking at me and sitting there dealing with what He sees, how He sees into my heart and just knows?

I feel the ting - the shock, the reality that He sees it and doesn’t look away.

The LORD keeps looking.

He loves me so much that what He sees in me, the sin that I’ve done, He loves me more than anything that the sin doesn’t cause Him to flinch or look away.

Stay right where you are and let Him look at you. Confess, repent, and let His love free you.

This is Good News because it is good for us,

Shauna
