The Distinction

Friend,

Because someone asked me this thought-provoking question, I want to ask you. Also, I’m curious if it convicts you like it does me.

What, if anything, distinguishes me from everyone else around me? My gender. Sometimes. My skin color. Not always. My experience. Or lack thereof. My age. Well, that’s a possibility these days.

What, if anything, distinguishes me from everyone else around me? My past. I don’t necessarily know that. My lifestyle. Could be.

What, if anything, distinguishes me from everyone else around me?

The Spirit of the Living God in me. Yes. The Spirit of the Living God in me. He is the Source of my hope. He is my Freedom. He is my Guide and Counselor through the darkness and the grief and up on the mountain and down in the valley. On my own, I am not distinctive. I am distinctive because of Jesus.

Will you be worshiping with your faith family today? I hope and pray you are. This distinction is far greater when we are unified as the local body of Christ. I pray the church you are a part of is distinguishable in your community among non-Christians as having a supernatural power and presence that exudes a love and grace and truth that isn’t found anywhere else.

Headed to church,

Shauna
