Do you believe in healing?
Friend,
Have you ever been healed or helped in a healing? I don’t want to lose you because I’m writing of something that seems mystical or other-worldly. Perhaps you’ll be comfortable with Peter and John and what happened back then. Somehow I’ve been okay with them being able to heal a lame man, but one of my friends speaking healing in Jesus’ Name and something miraculous happening? Do we not put Christ’s healing power to work through prayer and faith because it’s 2023 or we have medicine nowadays?
I’d give anything to have Jesus use me to bring about healing in a lame person today. To see Marcy stretched out on the bench and be able to speak healing over her mind in Jesus’ Name. To put my hand on Wyatt’s shoulder and pray for him to be completely cured of cancer. To see my friend Minnie be done with chronic pain once and for all. To know my much younger friends Caleb and Maya would not have eczema ever again. But it’s not just the healing that threw the others off that day Peter and John helped a lame man walk.
They emphasized Jesus and His resurrection life. It was the politicians, priests, and power people who were “greatly distressed because Peter and John were teaching the people and proclaiming in Jesus the resurrection from the dead.” I don’t understand why God heals this person and not that person.
I do believe God still heals today and uses His people to do greater things than Jesus did on earth. (John 14:12-14)
What we give is Jesus.
“Many who heard believed.” Not those who experienced healing believed or saw the healing believed. Many who heard Peter and John speak about Jesus and His resurrection life believed.
When we pray for healing, we are proclaiming Jesus. When we stop and pray with someone we barely know, we proclaim Jesus. When we tell people they can have hope in Jesus as they walk through valleys, we proclaim Jesus.
And not just one aspect of Jesus, but all of Him. Today, I pray you and I experience all of Jesus. I pray He comes up in our conversations. I pray you experience His healing in your life and that you have an opportunity to pray for someone else’s healing in Jesus’ Name.
Believing,
Shauna
