Turkey
It was really happening!
A dream we planned and saved for years.
The trip had just started
And we were having the time of our lives.
It was that moment
Just moments in
That i could return home
Because the taste of it
Was so satisfying.
To stay longer
I would be undone.
And undone
I became.
Jet lag
Meets inexpressible joy
As we opened the curtains
And stepped outside on the veranda
Undone with gratitude
Undone because Turkish coffee
Was not our favorite
And the Turkish delights
Were more Narnia
Than delicious
And the pomegranate juice
Well, that was the gold.
All because ben followed a man
Confidently walking to his favorite cafe
To learn it belonged to his dad.
Biased.
But when in Istanbul.
A wall of famous visitors
No one asked for our photo
And we prefer it that way
But if they did
We’d submit this one
This sunset could be anywhere
And the image is as grainy as can be
Yet it’s a picture for me
Maybe a reminder for you
That the best moments in life
Aren’t captured
But held.
