Day 26: Stanford University
If you don't know by now, we love trains and baseball.
And if we can get somewhere by train...all the merrier!
And if we can play baseball when we get there...then it's the merriest!

The Caltrain depot is literally across the street from our apartment complex. The Caltrain can take you as far south as San Jose, but we are the northernmost point. So, we boarded the train to Palo Alto, home of Stanford University.
It's a double-decker train! Double seating on the main floor and single seating on the top.
Sam and Elijah preferred the top!
We walked from the depot in Palo Alto to the quad on campus. It was so refreshing to be on a college campus again! The heat, however, not so refreshing! It was like being back on Alabama's campus with the summer heat. (I know, I can't be pleased by the weather elements, can I?) Just want to give an idea of how drastic Bay Area weather truly is!
We played baseball, found a shade tree to enjoy a picnic lunch and then walked back past the depot to downtown Palo Alto. (By the way, we are loving our picnics. With all the walking and exercise we are getting, we are able to stay longer and enjoy the treks back if our tummies are satisfied!)
The boys commented that they wanted to go to Stanford or just straight to the Major Leagues. "Whichever," they said matter-of-factly.
We found an ice cream shop and quickly enjoyed it before scurrying to catch the train back to the city.
Another fun adventure...this one with Ben!
