i am proud. proud of what our boys are becoming. proud of the education they are receiving in and out of the classroom in our city. proud of the way our schools celebrates diversity and wants all to feel loved and accepted. 

their classmates come from all walks of life. various parts of the city. small families. large families. english-speaking families. spanish-speaking families. classmates new to the united states. families with two moms. families with traveling dads. 

i was amazed at the number of parents that took time off of work to be at the assembly. scores of them. all proud. all applauding the unity and diversity and community we all share at a school in our city.

and yes, it was pajama day for sam.
